Route 12E

Lisbon tram E12

This is Lisbon’s shortest tram route, travelling on a 4 kilometre (2 1/2 mile) clockwise-only city centre loop using historic trams.

The heritage remodelado trams take around 20 minutes to complete one lap, negotiating narrow streets, tight bends and steep hills along the way.

The start and end point is Praça Martim Moniz in the Baixa district, one of historic central Lisbon’s main squares, which is also the starting place of the very famous route 28E, although the two routes do not use the same tram stop.

Remembering that you can get on and off the 12E tram at any stop along its route, not necessarily the start and end point, you may wish to ride on this route to avoid the queues for the much busier 28E tram that every tourist coming to Lisbon wants to ride.
